P Stubbs nippers

Peter Stubbs started making tools in Lancashire England in the middle of the 18th century. These nippers are only 3 1/2 inches long. Notice that the nippers use a box joint. Unlike a pair of scissors which just overlap each other, these nippers have the second blade forged on after the joint is assembled. Much more difficult to do but it supports the blade from both sides, which is what you want if you are making nippers which can still be in regular use after two hundred years.
